🛴💨 Best 10 Electric Scooter for Heavy Adults up to 350lbs // 2024

  • Read Time: 9 min

The e-scooters seem to have well and truly arrived on the scene as a “green” and practical alternative to quickly get you to your destination in urban areas, whether one approves of this or not. And once you’ve tried it, it does have a lot going for it.

Instead of waiting for the bus, or shuffling down the subway to squeeze into an already cramped train, just because the walk to where you need to be is long enough for it to be inconvenient, an electric scooter for heavy adults gets you there swiftly and you need not break any sweat as you would if you opted for a bike.

However, as with all things that catch on in a similar fashion, a myriad of options start to appear on the market, all of different variety and quality.

Heavy Duty Scooters For Adults - Specific Weight Limits

The one question you might ask yourself, if you over the years have accumulated a bit more body weight than what was planned, and have found yourself in the "heavier adults" league, or you were always picked first when the basketball team was called in school; is the electric scooter for you? And if so, which one should you get?

After all, there are things to consider for a heavier rider. Wear and tear of the scooter, is the braking system sufficient, overall build quality, what type of tires does it ride on, and is the suspension good enough?

Here we will answer those questions for you and find out, which is the best electric scooter for heavy people and depending on your exact weight we have some options for you.

The Mantis Pro

All Around powerful & long range E-scooter

The Fluidfreeride Mantis is by far one of the most impressive electric e-scooters I have tried. As far as comfortable rides go, it is a premium scooter.

The one thing that stands out at first glance is the wheels and tires. They are bigger than what one is used to on electric scooters and those 10 x 2.5 inches pneumatic tires provide a very smooth ride, as well as negotiate uneven road surfaces or other possible obstacles better than the average e-scooter we are used to by now. It will even handle some off-road action without complaining too much.

For a heavy adult, the suspension system will immediately make you feel comfortable and again, give the impression that this is not your typical average e-scooter. It has front and rear spring arms and will accommodate a heavy adult up to 265 lbs (120 kg). It weighs 65 lbs (29 kg).

It has a real-world riding mile range of 35+ miles (56+ km) although you can get more if you ride in eco mode and preserve battery life as much as possible.

This is an e-scooter I would be comfortable running on a dirt track or even some fire roads in the forest if not too challenging. The top speed is a stunning 40 mph (64 km/h)! as I noticed on my first ride. It is quite astonishing if not a little scary as it rockets away.

A good thing then, that it is equipped with semi hydraulic dual disc brakes for stopping power. It feels bigger than most electric scooters and the steering column is also longer, which is a feature much desired by many customers who feel they have to bend down to reach the handlebars on other e-scooters. The riding position here feels perfect for me, I am 6 feet (185 cm) tall, and even a significantly taller person will not have any issues with reach. If you are a tall person, or on the “heavy” side of average, and looking for top performance, look no further than the Mantis.

PROS

  • High Top Speed
  • Long Range
  • Great Suspension
  • Advanced Display

CONS

  • No folding handlebars
  • Heavy and not one you carry around for too long

"mantis Scooter"
This is a machine. If you get one of these make sure you get yourself protected. Riding one of these without a helmet or elbow and knee pads is like riding a Harley wearing flip flops. This is not only for the young adult. I am 69 years old and in good shape. I am using muscles I have not used so I get a little sore after a 10 mile run.
Well built. Fast. Hold on when you hit the turbo button.
When you are stuck in the house and the only option to move around is a car or walking, nice to jump on the scooter and let it take you where ever you want. Couple of things you have to do yourself. Get a mirror. Not knowing what is behind you is uncomfortable. Ear plugs, for the wind noise. Clear glasses for night time. All in all a great purchase.

An all around great electric scooter for a heavy person

If you (like me) think... "well…as much as I’d love to be able to backflip...but let’s face it...it’s not gonna happen”, and you don’t want to splash out the better part of approx 2500 USD to commute to work on your e-scooter. What then? Rest easy, there are a couple of options.

The Horizon brings it all back to the relative “normal” state of things electric scooter-wise. It is a properly built e-scooter that will accept 265 Ibs (120 kg) of heavy body frame with ease, and still be able to reach 25 mph (40 km/h) which is plenty fast around city centers these days.

A rear wheel 500W/800W peak power hub motor powers the solid 8-inch rear tire whereas on the front is an 8,5-inch air-filled tire.

It comes with the option of two different choices of batteries. The smaller one, 48V 10.4Ah will give a mile range of 20 miles (32 km) and the bigger 48V 13Ah extends it to 25 miles (40 km).

Here the hydraulic suspension sits on the rear with a spring on the front. Rear drum brake plus regenerative braking delivers efficient braking power. At around the 800 USD mark, it might also be a good entry point into the e-scooter world.

A very practical scooter with no risks of rear flats, weighing 42 lbs (19 kg) with folding handlebars and stem for portability and with plenty of performance. A proper companion that will deliver what you need for your commute.

PROS

  • Solid back tire - No punctures!
  • Trolly Wheels for Easy Transport

CONS

  • "Only 500w" depending on weight you might want more power

"Great all around scooter"
"Im stoked on this scooter. I got it for my girlfriend as something to use for a 10 mile daily commute with lots of extra juice for longer rides and hills. Its a SOLID scooter that I enjoy riding. Im 175lbs and it flys past rental scooters and easy to get up to 20 mph. I got the 10amp version to save weight cause 40lbs is a bit heavy but my girlfriends been doing just fine. We got the trolly wheels which are alright. They’re expensive for what they are and they’re not a perfect fit but they do the job. Given that the scooter can be walked in its riding positing at the train station and going into work the weight is nbd although I’m happy I didn’t get the WW pro. Even through I still want one for the power. Don’t get me wrong this thing is plenty powerful."

Nami Burn E Max

One of the most popular scooters for heavy adults - 265 lbs

Table header 0Table header 1Table header 2
Motor: 2 x 1500W base / 8400W peakTires: tubeless 11"
Dimensions:  53 x 24.5 x 57 inches
Battery: 72V 35AH 18650 PanasonicSuspension: hydr. coil-shock, adjustable Folded Dim: 53 x 24.5 x 25 inches

Top Speed: 60 MphLights: Bright front, side and rear LEDDrive: front & rear wheel
Weight Limit: 330 lbs / 150 kgDisplay: feature-loaded smart displayBattery Position: Under Board

If the purchase price is of no concern, and you want an outrageous performance e-scooter, the Nami Burn-E is for you. And you know it means business when it's also called the Viper and has a snake logo on its fender.

It looks industrial and properly serious in a way that says, "I will be fast and furious".

Front and rear hub motors with a combined base 3000W/8400W peak power output and a massive 72V 35Ah 18650 Panasonic battery pack are good for a top speed of 60 mph (96,5 km/h) and up to 100-mile range (160 km).

Zero to 20 mph (32 km/h) is dispersed within 2,1 sec! Zero to 50 mph (80 km/h) in 8,5!!
It doesn't look like a commuter e-scooter but more like a racing scooter for the Formula e-scooter series, (if such a thing would exist.)

It is phenomenally comfortable, and you can jump up and down on the big wide deck and nearly get airborne doing so. This is possible due to a swingarm suspension system with a dual 165 mm length KKE hydraulic coil shock with rebound adjustment options. Top of the line. Add to that 11 x 4-inch tubeless tires, available in street or off-road configuration and ride quality will be second to none. Off-roading and speeding up hills are definitely on the menu for the Viper.

The deck is plenty wide and the back end tails up leaving you a natural resting place for your back foot, similar to a runner's starting block, but not as vertical. This allows for a good stance when riding and controlling this powerful beast.

It has a very well-calibrated thumb throttle, which is a good thing, as even the slightest input propels you forward in a jaw-dropping manner. There is no single-motor mode option.

All that speed and power means you need to be able to brake on a dime. Fully hydraulic disc brakes (NUTT) and regen brake ensure you can. From 20 mph (32 km/h) to a standstill is just under 16 ft (5 m). But remember, should you get such a fast scooter, the laws of physics can't be bent. Even though you have great brakes, you cant pull as hard as possible or yank them brutally on an e-scooter without the risk of everything starting to slide and going sideways.

There is a technique for finding the perfect balance. If you go 30 mph (48 km/h) the Viper needs about 13,5 m to come to a complete stop by a professional rider. It just goes to show how much difference in braking distance a 10 mph (16 km/h) difference does.

A big display placed at the centre of the steering shows all kinds of info as well as offers 5 customizable riding modes. There are independent settings for the two controller units allowing you to separately adjust torque and acceleration. Controller temperatures are showing, you can adjust the overheat protection, motor temperature, adaptive cruise control, and even G loads. The list goes on and on. As we said, more or less a racing display.

With such a big battery there is no need for additional lighting. A 2000-lumen headlight is well enough in the dark. There are side LED strips with integrated turn signals under the deck. Rear brake light and a proper motorcycle-type horn will be heard when needed.

It has a patented thread-look taper folding system stem which is a further testament to the design and build quality of the Nami Burn-E Viper. And it is the only one in its class with an IP 55 rating. It weighs 103 lbs (47 kg) mind you, should you ever get the idea of folding it and picking it up. Remember to bend your knees while lifting. And it will accept heavy adults up to 330 lbs (150 kg).

The Viper takes the game to another level. Developed based on feedback from e-scooter users and requests, it sets a very high standard even with a higher price tag.

PROS

  • Solid back tire - No punctures!
  • Trolly Wheels for Easy Transport

CONS

  • "Only 500w" depending on weight you might want more power

"Best ride quality"
"Absolutely incredible scooter. The ride itself is second to none. I did a range test and I'm about 180lbs. I went 53 miles (some hills, frequent acceleration to 45mph, and on a paved road) I did about 53 miles and when I got back home, I still had 47 percent battery left. I've rode dualtrons, yume's, nanrobots etc. they all pale in comparison to the ride of the Nami. Worth every penny imo. You can tell this thing was crafted with a lot of love. Box was packaged well and 0 issues with the scooter upon arrival. I highly recommend buying a Nami. Fluid is awesome too! Thanks! Even the squirrel loves the Nami!"

The fastest lightweight electric scooter for heavy adults

Range: 22 milesBrakes: rear drum & rear step on brakeWeight: 29 lbs
Top Speed: 25+ mph (up to 28mph in gear 5)Lights: Bright front, side and rear LEDDrive: front wheel
Weight Limit: 265 lbsDisplay: color center displayBattery Position: Under Board

If you qualify in the category of heavier riders and took one look at the Mosquito, you would never think it might be an option for you as a daily commuter.

It looks barely more than a kid's kick scooter yet is a proper pocket rocket with plenty of motor power and then some.

It only weighs 29 lbs (13 kg), is ultraportable and still manages to have a maximum weight capacity of 265 lbs (120 kg) and a top speed of 25+ mph (40+ km/h).

It has a 48V 9.6Ah battery with a real-world riding mile range of 20 miles (32 km). A front wheel single 500W/700W peak power motor packs a punch and has strong acceleration as well as being able to handle hills you never would imagine.

It is quite astonishing that such a lightweight compact portable e-scooter manages to incorporate a dual suspension system which softens the ride from the solid tires as well as three brake systems. It has a rear drum and step-on brake as well as an adjustable regen brake activated via the throttle. And the braking is very good which is needed on such a fast electric scooter.

This is the perfect if not only choice for a bigger person who is looking for a fast, lightweight very portable scooter, with great durability. There is no match or competitor with the Mosquito in this weight class at the moment. Truly amazing.

PROS

  • Ultra light weight
  • Best in class ride quality
  • Very high top speed for its size

CONS

  • Braking distance can be long if going top speed

"This little scooter is awesome! It's fast, lightweight, portable, and easy to use. It came assembled and I was up and running within 5 minutes. I use it as shuttle when I go kayak fishing on the river, running on paved roads at speeds up to 24 miles per hour (I limited it at level 4 for safety reasons.) Wear protective gear when you ride it - 24 mph doesn't sound fast in a car but it feels very fast when you're on the scooter!"

Wolf Warrior X

Top Performance scooter with Superior Stability

Motor: 500W base - 700W peakTires: 8" x 2" solid tiresDimensions: 44.25x15.75x45.5 inches

Weight Limit: 265 lbsDisplay: color center displayBattery Position: Under Board

The various Wolf e-scooters are known to connoisseurs as the go-to models for heavy-duty off-roading with scary performance figures. These are not your typical everyday commuter scooters but rather adult electric scooters that might be an option to a motorcycle.

They are considered some of the best-built and constructed e-scooters you can get your hands on today.

The one thing though, or rather two, is that all that performance and durability, mean that they are quite heavy and cumbersome for an electric kick scooter. Not something you pick up and carry in a jiffy. And even when folded, they are not exactly compact.

But there is one version of the Wolf family, that is slightly lighter and agile, although still packing massive performance. The Wolf Warrior X.

Not exactly lightweight, however, it still manages to weigh 24 lbs (11 kg) less than its bigger siblings with a total weight of 79 lbs (36 kg).

It has that famous motorcycle style dual front stem design with front hydraulic shocks and rear dual spring suspension which provides a fantastic ride quality whatever the surface of the road or dirt track in the forest is.

Two versions of batteries are available. The standard "Street" model has a 60V 21Ah battery with a 40-mile (64 km) range and the "Pro" version with a 60V 28Ah with 52 miles (83 km) of range. For the Street version, you have the option of 10-inch air-filled street or off-road tires. For the Pro, it is 10-inch air-filled street tires.

Motor configuration and top speeds are the same. Dual 1000W/3500W peak power motors with 40 mph (69 km/h) top speed. And massive acceleration.

Front and rear fully hydraulic Zoom brakes and regen brakes are very effective and accurate in their feel.

Even though the deck is slightly narrower than on the other Wolfs it is actually a little longer providing plenty of space to stand on comfortably.

The max weight capacity is 220 lbs (98 kg). This can be the best buy if you are just below that weight, and are looking for that awesome Wolf performance but don't want the biggest of them.

PROS

  • Great power to weight ratio
  • Brilliant stability
  • Very comfortable ride

CONS

  • Side lights can be fragile

"Im a photographer and I use this thing at race tracks to get to different parts of tracks quickly. Wolf warrior X is a BEAST. Ozarks International Raceway has some huge rocky hills and this thing conquered them like it was nothing. Definitely glad I got the offroad tires. Total Game Changer for my work at the track."

Apollo Phantom

Sturdy Build and Beautiful Design - 300lbs

Table header 0Table header 1Table header 2
Motor: 2x 1000W base / 3200W peakTires: 10" x 3.25" pneumatic tires
Dimensions:  49 x 27 x 51 inch
Battery: 52V 23.4Ah Dynavolt Li-IonSuspension: adjustable 4x spring susp.Folded Dim: 49 x 27 x XX inch
Range: up to 40 MilesBrakes: dual disc (standard or hydraulic)Weight:  77 lbs
Top Speed: 38 MphLights: 3 front, turn signals, 1 rear LEDDrive: front & rear wheel
Weight Limit: 300 lbs / 136 kgDisplay: extra large HEX displayBattery Position: Under Board

Every once in a while, boundaries are pushed and new benchmarks are set. So it is with the Apollo Phantom. This is simply an incredible e-scooter and will be very tough to beat in most areas.

First and foremost, let's cover the power source. Battery power comes from a 52V 23.4Ah Dynavolt Li-Ion battery which is connected to dual 1200W/3200W peak power brushless hub motors. This means it has a maximum speed of 38 mph (61 km/h) and brilliant acceleration without scaring the bejesus out of the rider.

Zero to 15 mph takes 2,5 s and 34 mph (55 km/h) is reached in 13 seconds. Maximum range is 40 miles (64 km) on a single charge.

Ride quality? One of the best on the market at the time of writing. Someone put a lot of thought and feedback from riders into this design. It's a combination of things and as a package, it just blends and fits better than your favourite jeans.

It has a quadruple, rather than the standard double, adjustable spring suspension system which brings the shock absorption to a whole nother level in the "e-scooter world". It is super smooth and soaks everything up with grace. Included in the design is a rubber bump stop to prevent the feeling of topping or bottoming out.

10" x 3,25" pneumatic tires are the proper choice for a smooth ride and they are also phenomenal. The tread pattern and the design of the tires provide brilliant traction and grip even when cornering properly.

A big so-called Hex Display at the centre of the steering column is another very clever and smart option to make life easier for daily commuters. We are now used to three times the size of a typical regular display and with a lot of intelligent functionality such as predicting your remaining mileage based on your last seconds of throttle usage. Different types of p-settings, speed modes, turn signal indicators, and so on.

The ergonomic design of the handlebars is perfect. The rubber grips, various buttons, the best thumb-operated throttle in the class, and the long deck with plenty of grip, are simply outstanding.

Everything oozes high quality, and the riding experience on long distances will be as comfortable as it can get on an e-scooter.

This brings us to safety features. There are two versions available and the only difference between them is hydraulic or standard dual disc brakes. Both provide excellent performance. Bright orange rear turn signals, rear led light, and one of the best high-mounted front headlight we've seen on an e-scooter. No need to buy an extra headlight for nighttime riding.

The maximum weight capacity is 300 lbs (136 kg). For some, the Apollo Phantom might be the only acceptable option. If you have a big frame, and still want the best possible commuter scooter with great durability, load capacity, and a good top speed, and are willing to pay the asking price, you will get a top-notch e-scooter.

It is quite heavy with its 77 lbs (35 kg), but it does fold in 5 seconds and is portable in one hand, albeit not for long distances.

PROS

  • Fantastic design & looks
  • Brilliant Display
  • High weight capacity

CONS

  • Could have a better kick-stand
  • Very heavy

"Up until purchasing these I've only used rental scooters. Their primary use is for mobility through the infield of large race tracks. Last week at Watkins Glen they were perfect. It's not uncommon for us to walk 15+ miles during a weekend and at temps of over 85 it's draining. These allowed us to move around the infield numerous times to watch from different vantage points. Can't wait till the next race. Until then we'll use them around home ant at the local park."

INOKIM Quick 4

All Round Talent for Commute & Play

Table header 0Table header 1Table header 2
Motor: 600W rear BLDCTires: 10" x 2.5" air tires
Dimensions:  42.5 x 44 x 19 inches
Battery: Samsung Li-ion 52V 16AhSuspension:  pneumatic tiresFolded Dim: 44  x 14.5 x 9.5 inches
Range: 25 MilesBrakes: Front & rear drum brakeWeight:  47 lbs
Top Speed: 25 MphLights: front and rear LEDDrive: rear wheel
Weight Limit: 220 lbs / 100 kgDisplay: Bright advanced displayBattery Position: Under Board

With the Quick 4, Inokim has tried to create the best overall compact commuter scooter package. And in many ways, they have succeeded. But not without some compromises. It has quite a short wheelbase and a small deck, which creates a very snappy quick steering.

This provides great cornering capabilities, but also a slight feeling of instability at higher speeds. The Quick 4 has a dual suspension system, with a spring suspension in the front and a rubber suspension in the rear. It feels quite firm with maybe a bit more shock absorption feeling from the rear, but on the whole, it works fine.

A single 600 Watt motor on the rear wheel won't set any new records, but it was never meant to. It has decent acceleration and a top speed of 25 mph (40 km/h). It also climbs hills better than expected, compared to similarly powered e-scooters.

52V 16Ah Samsung Lithium ion battery is good for a realistic 25-mile range, (40 km) on a single charge.

Dual drum brakes and dual 10 x 2,5-inch pneumatic tires, provides excellent modulation and brake feel with a braking distance of 3.6 m from 15 mph to zero.

It has a very good built-in advanced LED display where you have all your p-settings, speedometer settings, etc. It is one of the best displays as far as brightness goes. Even in full sunlight, it is bright enough. Thumb-operated robust throttle that is easy to control.

Portability is the name of the game and it is super quick to fold. It only measures 44 x 14,5 x 9,5 inches (112 x 37 x 24 cm) when folded. It weighs 47 lbs ( 21 kg) so you can bring it on public transport.

Telescoping stem, folding handlebars, front and rear handles, and a locking design for easier carrying make it a very versatile daily commuter.

The maximum load is 220 lbs (100 kg) and at the time of writing it costs around 1 500 USD. Inokim produces some of the best and high quality built e-scooters on the market. The Quick 4 is no exception. You get a fantastic e-scooter built by a company that in many ways is at the forefront of e-scooter design.

PROS

  • Portable
  • Clever & bright Display
  • Telescope stem

CONS

  • Limited to 220 lbs / 100 kg

"Smooth-riding, peppy commuter
Love this thing. It's fun, sophisticated and practical all at once. The range is great for getting around most cities (25 - 30 miles seems realistic based on my first ride). Acceleration is great and you can reach 25 mph pretty quickly. Suspension is fantastic and has turned what used to be a pretty jarring ride into smooth commute. The dashboard is the icing on the cake. It looks amazing and is really useful. Some other pros - 1) quick-release handlebars make collapsing this a breeze, 2) built-in back carrying handle, 3) automatic brake lights on *both* brake handles, and 4) built-in USB port for charing accessories."

Kaabo are renowned for their head-turning as well as head-snapping powerful performance scooters, but previously, also for some creaking stems and the odd wobble here & there. No more.

This has all been rectified and the Mantis 8 has probably the best stem in class now.

The acceleration is super strong in dual motor mode and with all the settings at max, it manages to not spin its front wheel but keep it steady instead. Switch to single motor mode and you still have a quick accelerating yet easily controlled scooter.

The power supply comes from a 48V 24.5Ah battery pack and dual 800W/2600W peak power motors with a top speed of 33 mph (53 km/h). 40 miles (64 km) of range is possible if you keep it in eco mode and single motor drive.

The ride quality is superb. Fun to ride and easy to use you can jump off curbs with confidence and go through corners at speed easily while enjoying a very comfortable ride as the dual spring suspension is top of the line. Packed dirt trails or grass is also possible although not a proper off-road scooter.

It has slightly wider than usual air-filled 8 x 3.1-inch tires for a bigger contact patch which adds to the smooth ride quality.

Fully hydraulic dual Zoom disc brakes and adjustable regen brake provide perfect stopping power.

Visibility aplenty with front and rear LED lights, lateral LED strips, and turn signals, make for a safe ride in the dark. For better forward vision at night, we recommend an additional attachable light.

The steering will remind you of a bicycle in its shape, especially since the handlebars don't fold. Trigger style index finger throttle and EY3 LCD display for settings of cruise control, ABS, and different torque configurations. Being smaller than the other Mantis scooters means it is more portable, even though it weighs 60 lbs (27 kg).

Its max rider weight is 256 lbs (120 kg). The overall build quality is superb as one can see in the welding joints, the durable and strong components that create a solid package with no squeaks and sounds. It just moves quietly about.

A perfect cross-over scooter that can be your everyday commuter as well as a weekend warrior with long-distance range and strong performance and hill climbing abilities.

PROS

  • Long range & powerful
  • Portable

CONS

  • Handlebars do not fold

"Possibly the perfect scooter
I have the 2021 Mantis Pro 8 and absolutely love it! It does it all, exceptional torque and power yet nimble enough to go anywhere. Takes hill’s and trails with ease and a great city scooter, closest thing to a magic carpet out there. We have 4 scooters but I’m seriously considering getting another one for my wife. Only thing I would want from the factory is a keyed start and a horn, but now you can get a fingerprint start but that just do appeal to me and a after market horn is easy to find. Hopefully they will add those features in time. Honestly the best all around scooter you can find."

Performance and Portability for the Daily Urban Rider

E-scooter manufacturers are gearing up properly, and the Apollo explore is another e-scooter setting a benchmark on how much quality scooter you can get below the 1 300 USD mark.

This is targeting urban riders looking for a high-performance long-range commuter scooter that is still portable and compact when folded.

A rear-wheel drive single motor of 1000W/1400W peak and a 52V 18.2Ah Li-Ion Battery pack gives a top speed of 31 mph (50 km/h) and a 34-mile range (54 km).

For a single-motor e-scooter, you wouldn't expect such good acceleration and hill-climbing performance. One of the best singles we've tried.

Excellent braking. 15 mph (24 kph) to zero takes about 3.5 meters. It has dual mechanical disc brakes and a regen brake on the rear wheel. The strength of the regen brake can be tuned in the p-settings. You can feel it kick in as soon as you start pulling on the lever.

10-inch large pneumatic tires and a dual rear plus single front spring suspension bring the ride quality to an excellent level. Stable at top speeds and riding potholes and other rougher surfaces with ease. A big deck provides plenty of foot space.

With the easy-to-use index finger style throttle and display, you can set and finetune your acceleration strength and top speed, enable zero start, check mileage, battery level and activate cruise control.

Low-mounted front Led lights will help you be seen but are not optimal for seeing in the dark. It also has side deck lighting and cool stem lighting.

Another area where the Apollo really shines is in its portability. Due to a collapsing stem and folding handlebars, it measures 46 x 7,7 x 17 inches (117 x 20 x 43 cm) when folded.

But it does weigh 52 lbs (23,5 kg). Lifting it frequently will not be ideal. But all that quality means it has a 265 lbs (120 kg) max load capacity.

So it most definitely is a contender to put on your best electric scooters for heavy adults shortlist.

PROS

  • Excellent ride quality
  • Long range

CONS

  • A bit heavy to carry for a daily commuter

"Great Scooter so far
This is a fun ride that checks all the boxes. Powerful, comfortable and very nimble. I was hooked from the moment I felt the acceleration and combined with their customer service and the extensive warranty what more can I ask for."

WideWheel Pro

A Great Dual Motor Scooter For Adults

Table header 0Table header 1Table header 2
Motor: 2x 500W base / 800W peakTires: 8" x 3.9" never-flat foam filled
Dimensions:  43.1 x 21.6 x 43.3 inches
Battery: Lithium-ion 48V 15AhSuspension:  front and rear springs Folded Dim: 43.1 x 8.6 x 16.1 inches
Range: 22+ MilesBrakes: Front & rear disc brakeWeight:  54 lbs
Top Speed: 26 MphLights: front and rear LEDDrive: front & rear wheel
Weight Limit: 220 lbs / 100 kgDisplay: Smart DisplayBattery Position: Under Board

Last but not least, the Widewheel Pro is probably a favourite of mine considering practicality, price and funnily enough...looks. This was the first scooter I have ever seen that made me think it actually looked cool. The design is smart and looks something like... “Lamborghini race drivers quick get around in the pit area”, I suspect the wide wheels have a lot to do with it.

It is funny how even on a small vehicle such as this, wide wheels with a cool rim and low profile still make it all look right. The wheels, due to their width, also inspire some leaning into the corner antics….that is if one has got the cojones for it of course.

Solid tires ensure that you don't run the risk of getting a puncture but do mean that the ride is a bit firmer than with air-filled tires. The suspension system makes up for some of that though. This is an e-scooter best suited for smooth paved roads.

This one will also do 26 mph (41 km/h) ... Dual motors produce a combined power output of 1000W/1600W peak power and the 48V 15Ah battery will have a 30-mile (48 km) range. Front and rear disc brakes for stopping power and a max weight capacity of 200 lbs (98 kg).

It comes in at just under 1300 USD and is extremely good value for money.

PROS

  • Great looks
  • Nice Display
  • Excellent acceleration

CONS

  • Ride is not too good on other surface than tarmac
  • Limited to 220 lbs / 100 kg

"Hill Eater!!
Great scooter with all-around performance. This scooter eats hills for breakfast. I couldn't keep up on my ebike with my roommate riding in front of me on a 7% grade hill. It stayed at 25mph while my ebike with pedal assist level 6 was maxing out at 25mph. Very fast for commuting to work. There's a learning curve for handling turns with wide wheels. Awesome customer service, delivered to my house in less than a week after purchasing. Customer support is fast and very helpful in resolving issues in a timely manner."

FAQ

How much weight can an electric scooter take?

It depends on the type and make of the e-scooter. Most adult scooters on the market can handle at least 220 lbs (98 kg), even the lightweight portable ones. Stepping up to bigger scooters 265 lbs (120 kg) and even 330 lbs (150 kg) is common. But those scooters will also be heavier themselves, typically weighing around 100 lbs (45 kg).

Can you carry a heavy electric scooter?

Depends on how strong you are. 65 lbs (29 kg) is doable for a lot of people but maybe not up many stairs or for longer distances. A big off-road scooter like the Wolf King GT Pro though weighs 120 lbs (54 kg) so not so easy to carry unless you are in really good shape.

Which electric scooter can hold the most weight?

At the time of writing, the top of the category for max weight contenders are the: NAMI BURN E2 Max, NAMI BURN E2, Wolf King GT Pro, Wolf GT Pro, and Wolf Warrior, which all have a 330 lbs (150 kg) max weight capacity.

What happens if you exceed the electric scooter weight limit?

There is a reason why the manufacturer has a weight limit and maximum load capacity stated. The e-scooter will not be able to perform as expected if it is overloaded. It will affect the range, top speed, acceleration, as well as brakes that now have to work twice as hard. The battery will be depleted much faster. The construction might also fail due to mechanical components and welding spots not being designed for more than the specified weight.

It is the same as with aeroplanes. You simply do not exceed the manufacturer's specified weight tolerances, lest you want to fall out of the sky.
