Horizon electric scooter

My Horizon has been the best scooter I've owned so far! It is the perfect scooter for a budget, and it has good acceleration and suspension for the price. I did have some mechanical issues with it, but customer service did a great job helping me with them. I highly recommend Fluid for their excellent customer service and scooters!

TWO YEARS WITH HORIZON SCOOTER -- UPDATED REVIEW!

I bought the Horizon scooter two years ago. I live in LA so I wanted something for shorter trips and to cut down on vehicle costs. Here's an updated review so you have an idea of what to expect after a few years of use.

Besides a few minor issues, this scooter is excellent. The smoothness, speed, and power are all incredibly impressive. It really feels like you're flying. If you've ridden one of those app rental scooters before, the Horizon is worlds better. Where a rental scooter is tough on your body and can't handle sidewalk bumps and cracks at all, the shocks on the Horizon are excellent. I've ridden it over ROUGH urban terrain and it handles it like a champ. I usually ride it on the street, but if you have to ride it on the sidewalk and people are in your way, you can go off road and over dirt or grass without a problem. It can really take quite a beating.

I use the scooter to go to and from the grocery store, and since the steel front frame is super strong, I can load it down with three full grocery bags and it handles them without a problem. I've done 100+ of these trips, and the handlebars haven't warped or bent out of shape due to the weight of the bags at all. For most riding purposes, the handlebars are extremely stable even without being screwed in all the way, which makes folding and unfolding the scooter very easy. When I bought it, the carrying handle and small rear detachable wheels were both sold out, but it hasn't been an issue. I live on the third floor with no elevator, so I was worried about how difficult it would be to carry the scooter upstairs, but I just fold in the handlebars and shorten the height of the front piece while still keeping the scooter in an "L" shape, then I hoist the scooter over my shoulder and carry it that way. I was very worried about the weight of the scooter when I got it but it's really no big deal.

There are a few things I wish were improved, but they aren't big enough to dock a star:

- The battery indicator on the display, which is shown as a segmented bar, never shows a "full" charge. Even when the scooter is fully charged, the display bar is always missing the final charge segment, which is annoying. Also, while actively accelerating/going uphill, the battery bar plummets, and it can briefly look like the battery is already 75% depleted. Initially, I thought this meant I had a bad battery, but now I know to only glance at the charge bar when the scooter is fully stopped.

- because of how a small piece of plastic is positioned, the back wheel area sometimes squeaks; although you can fix this by spraying it with WD-40 (note: be careful! I've never had any big mechanical issues in two years, but regular maintenance is a must!), after making sure nothing unsafe was going on, I mostly just ignore the noise -- given that it's electric, this scooter is insanely quiet, which -- especially in high-traffic areas -- is not always in your best interest.

- the kickstand fell off after two months. I haven't put it back on, mostly because it didn't really help all that much, and (this might be why it broke) I would sometimes forget to kick it back up before taking off. Also, I bought the chain lock accessory, which is small/tight enough that it usually keeps the scooter up on its own while parked. Definitely not a dealbreaker.

- The handle brake is weird. I have to position it almost underneath the left handlebar for it to work properly. When it's in a normal position (in line with where the HUD and acceleration lever is, just above the handlebar), it doesn't work very well; I don't know if this is a wiring issue specific to my scooter or not, but as long as I have it positioned below the handlebar instead of above, it brakes perfectly. The regen brakes are great.

- Unlike many rental scooters, the manual (back) brake/wheel flap is just a piece of plastic, and while you *can* step down on it to slow the scooter, I would avoid using it as such. The plastic has started to shred on mine due to this.

- I wish the LED lights were a bit brighter for night use.

BATTERY LIFE: I know battery life is labeled as 20-25 miles, and while that may be true in ideal (flat) conditions on the lowest speed setting, you're probably never going to use the scooter that way. This thing goes FAST, and once you're used to riding in third gear, first gear seems really slow. Because of this, I've found the actual "working" range to be a 15-mile round trip or two full hours of riding time, which is excellent. It's hard on your body to ride anything for more than two hours anyway, so as far as practicality is concerned, this scooter has more than enough battery to get you through everything you'll want to use it for.

Honestly, I love my Horizon. It's amazing. Every single time I ride it I'm floored by how much fun it is, how smoothly it rides, how fast it goes, and how much it feels like you're flying. It's the perfect way to see the city and I HIGHLY recommend it. 5/5 stars.

HORIZON - Practical Commuter Scooter - Great Value

As good as expected if not better.

I’ve viewed dozens of videos and read countless articles about electric kick scooters. I narrowed my choices to five, the Horizon being one of them. I ended up choosing the Horizon because there was a dealer near me, South Florida. I really wanted to see it in person rather than initiating a blind online purchase. They were super friendly, courteous and knowledgeable. The transaction was easy. I walked in, then walked out with my new scooter within 10 minutes.

Pros: 24 mph top speed, 20+ mile range, acceleration, suspension, solid rear tire to avoid flats, amazing LED lighting, portability, control center visibility, sturdiness, solid braking, ride comfort.

Cons: none

You will not find a better electric kick scooter for the price. I couldn’t be happier with purchase. It demands attention, especially at night with it’s LED lighting.
I wholeheartedly recommend the Fluid Freeride Horizon to anyone in the market. You will not be disappointed.
