Best adult electric scooters released 2020

We have analyzed the best adult electric scooters available on the market today and reviewed several aspects of them. We compared electric scooters based on the following categories as they are the most commonly desired specs people look for:

  • Best all around adult electric scooters
  • Best lightweight electric scooters for adults
  • Best long range electric scooters for adults
  • Best all terrain & off road electric scooters for adults

Electric scooters have been around for longer than one would think. At first, they were mostly tailored to children and it’s only in recent years that the trend for electric scooters for adults has seen a massive increase. Unlike hoverboards or segways, electric scooters are here to stay. And it’s easy to understand why that is so, due to their many benefits and upsides.

Many models are portable and easy to carry. They also tend to be quite fast yet simple to maneuver. Adult electric scooters are also an affordable, eco-friendly choice for modern people wanting to travel through inner cities and urban areas as effectively as possible.

However, these benefits are not applicable to all electric scooters for adults. There are many different models to choose from. Each with their own specific features uses and design purposes. People who are looking to buy one, should keep several things in mind when looking for an electric scooter.

 - What is the main purpose of the scooter?
 - Will you use it primarily for commuting or leisure driving?
 - The weight is important - how often will you be carrying the scooter around?
 - The range is another key factor, how far do you need it to go?
 - Will you be going off road or staying in urban environments?

Knowing the answers to these questions will help you narrow down the search.

Best all around electric scooters for adults

The best all around electric scooter for adults will be a question of compromises. It is a matter of finding that one e-scooter that can tick those boxes you need ticked. Usually, that will mean finding one that can be used every day, without too much hassle, light enough to pick up and carry but not at the expense of high quality build. It will most likely need to be foldable and be able to recharge relatively quickly and also have a reasonably good mile range.

Performance can be an important factor if you live in a hillier area, as that will require some high torque performance from your e-scooter that not all are capable of. The most popular options on the lightweight e-scooter market are the ones who in one or other way, can cover those areas, and have a proven track record as well as satisfied customers.

WideWheel Pro

Fast, fun and all around a brilliant electric scooter

Motor: 2x 500W base / 800W peakTires: 8" x 3.9" never-flat foam filled
Dimensions: 43.1 x 21.6 x 43.3 inches
Battery:  Lithium-ion 48V 15AhSuspension: front and rear springs  Folded Dim: 43.1 x 8.6 x 16.1 inches
Range: 22+ miles*Brakes:  Front & rear disc brakeWeight: 54 lbs
Top Speed:  26 MphLights: Front and rear LEDDrive: Front & rear wheel drive
Weight Limit: 220 lbs / 100 kgDisplay:  Smart DisplayBattery Position: Under Board

The WideWheel Pro is the latest updated version of the very popular WideWheel. An electric scooter that even manages to look cool. This latest version has rectified some of its predecessor's niggling issues that were reported. First released in 2018, the WideWheel set a benchmark in the e-scooter world. The design and performance pushed the boundaries in a sportier direction than what was typically the norm for similarly priced e-scooters.

The first thing one notices is the wheels. They are wide and low profile solid airless tires, but they are flexible. If you push your thumb into it you will feel that it is not rock solid. This, and the front and rear suspension system, as well as a redesigned frame, has added even more stability to that smooth ride we've come to expect from the WideWheel.

Mostly suited for smooth surfaces though. Potholes and other minor imperfections in the road will not be a major issue, but any off road activity will. Basically, this is not an e-scooter for any type of gravel, dirt, or similar. It is also not an e-scooter that will turn on a dime due to its wide wheels. If riding in very cramped places, or where it is important to have that snap control, then a narrower tired e-scooter will be better suited. But if not....then there is not much that can compete with the feeling of the WideWheel.

It is absolutely brilliant and so much fun to ride on paved roads. It kind of floats and carves its way forward. And the dual motors put out a combined output of 1000W. The acceleration is quite fast but not too brutal. Another update compared to the base version are dual disc brakes and a larger battery pack. Real world riding mile range is 22 miles (35 km), and the top speed is 26 mph (42 kph). Eco mode riding will extend the range to approximately 30 miles (48km). Climbing hills with an incline of up to 30% is not a problem.

It is foldable and can definitely be used for daily commuting although not exactly lightweight. It weighs 54 lbs (24.5 kg) mind you. Handlebars do fold which we love. A new intuitive LCD display is another welcome upgrade. Battery status, speed, mileage are some of the info available. Change gears while riding, from ECO mode (efficient power use and maximum range) to POWER mode (maximum torque and speed) with the press of a button. And it also has cruise control.

One of the best combinations of a commuter and fun weekend warrior available.

PROS

  • High Top Speed
  • Can tackle any hills
  • Cool and unique looks

CONS

  • Unique folding mechanism, takes some getting used to

"Awesome!
Scooter arrived in just a few days. Love everything about it. Powerful as hell! Hold on!! It takes a bit of an adjustment, but the feeling is amazing. Thought the tires might make for a less than cushy ride but that's not the case at all. Very smooth ride for non-inflatable tires. No complaints."

Horizon

A practical all around commuter scooter

Discover one of the commuting favourites - The Horizon
Motor: 500W base / 800W peakTires: 8" rear solid, 8.5" front air
Dimensions: 42.5 x 23.2 x 46.8 inch
Battery:  Lithium-ion 48V 10.4Ah / 13AhSuspension: front & rear Folded Dim: 38.6 x 7.1 x 14.6 inch
Range: 20miles(10.4Ah) / 25miles(13AH)Brakes: Rear drum brake +regenerativeWeight: 40 lbs (10Ah) / 42 lbs (13Ah)
Top Speed: 23-25 mphLights: 3 front and 2 rear LEDsDrive: rear wheel drive
Weight Limit: 265 lbs / 120 kgDisplay: advanced display with throttle Battery Position: Under Board

This electric scooter was designed as an all around multi purpose adult electric scooter and to offer an option for those looking to step up from an entry level e-scooter. It has a longer mile range than for example the Xiaomi M365, and has a 500W brushless hub motor with a peak power output of 800W that is perfectly comfortable going up 15% inclines and hills. Top speed is also a respectable 23 mph (37 kph).

And where it really thrives is in an urban environment. The Horizon definitely has the specs for urban commuting. It’s somewhat heavier than its urban commuting counterparts but still only 40/42 lbs (18/19kg), which allows for carrying onto buses or trains easily enough.

Available in two different battery versions gives the option of a 20 or a 25 mile range (32 or 40km) hence the slight difference in weight. A dual suspension system with a combination of an air filled tire on the front and a solid on the rear is an interesting choice but makes sense. The risk of running a flat on the rear wheel is zero, and maintenance is also kept at a minimum. It all works very well in unison and handles the road in a balanced way. You never feel tired even after a long ride.

Rear drum and regen brake with a lever on the left side of the handlebar controls the regen brake at first by just pulling it slightly. Pull a bit harder and the rear drum brake is activated. Even though it is just below the "lightweight" scooter limit with its 40/42 lbs (18/19 kg), it folds into a very compact package. Folded dimensions are 38.6 x 7.1 x 14.6 inches (98 x 18 x 37 cm). Definitely small enough to stow away in a corner of a coffee shop or on public transportation.

LCD display, LED lights and a very good overall build quality ensure a long life for this workhorse.

PROS

  • Long Range
  • Strong Power to weight ratio
  • Very Practical & Foldable

CONS

  • Board deck somewhat narrow

1 week of Research paid off. I love it!
I've been a bike rider, walker most of my life because I'm bored in a car unless I'm going on an adventure. Got tired of biking to and fro, looked at electric bikes and scooters. Watched many YouTube videos on scooters, read articles everywhere, looked up specs, concentrated on negative reviews rather than positives, watched scooter "experts" on their YouTube stations etc.. long story short under $700 I was 95% going to buy the GoTrax G4 model period. Then I heard and saw the facial expression and smile and deep thought of one of the trustworthy experts get asked question on a live show between the G4 and the Horizen. That was the final piece I needed, that face he made. For the extra $200, this Fluid is worth it :). Oy problem I'm having is driver's in cars and onlookers I pass buy eyeballing my Horizen. I put it in a shopping cart and took it into Walmart with me and was being eyeballed by customers. Lol. That's the only downside - it's a great piece of machinery but watch out for those wanting to take it from you. Get a GPS tracker. Can't afford to lose a beautiful piece of machinery like that. I love the ride, power, the look and mine came delivered, greased and all. FluidFree put love into their product and I'm ecstatic what I got for $700. Enjoy Horizen Fluid riders..

INOKIM Quick 4

An easy to use scooter with brilliant ride quality

Discover the brand new INOKIM Quick 4

Top Speed: 25 mphLights: Front and rear LEDDrive:  rear wheel drive
Weight Limit:  220 lbs / 100 kgDisplay: Bright advanced displayBattery Position: Under Board

Inokim has recently introduced what might be one of the best all round e-scooters for commuting available.

As per usual with Inokim scooters, it is beautifully designed and assembled and delivers great specs. A 52V Samsung 16Ah battery promises up to 40 miles of range (64km) which should be sufficient enough for most. With a powerful 600W rear motor it has great torque and a top speed of 24 mph (40 kph).

At 47 lbs (21 kg) it is still portable and folds down into a very neat and small package for easy stowing away.

This one does not shy away from uneven surfaces such as grass or dirt trails as it has a dual damper suspension, as well as 10 inch pneumatic tires. A very smooth ride indeed. Dual drum brakes, a very wide deck, bright front and rear LED lights, and a large bright display that shows you all you need to know. Three speed settings and cruise control are all part of what's on offer. A top choice.

PROS

  • Folds neatly in a few seconds
  • Large display
  • Adjustable stem

CONS

  • Somewhat heavy

WideWheel 2019

The original wide tired electric scooter

Discover one of the most popular electric scooters
Motor:  2x 500W base / 800W peakTires: 8" x 3.9" solid
Dimensions: 43.1 x 21.6 x 43.3 inches
Battery: Lithium-ion 48V 13.2AhSuspension:  front and rear springsFolded Dim: 43.1 x 8.6 x 16.1 inches
Range: realistic 20 milesBrakes: Rear disc brakeWeight: 50 lbs
Top Speed: 25 MphLights: front and rear LEDDrive: front & rear wheel drive
Weight Limit:  220 lbs / 100 kg*Display: Voltage display plus LEDsBattery Position: Under Board

The WideWheel 2019 has certainly received a lot of attention due to its unique design and wide tires. The ride is different from other adult electric scooters as with help from its wide tires you achieve a gliding sensation, relatable to riding a snowboard, and you can simply lean side to side in order to turn.

A massive bonus is that the wide tires are airless and therefore there is no risk of you having a flat tire. Although some may say this causes a stiff ride, the WideWheel has dual suspension which compensates for this resulting in a smooth, easy ride on smooth surfaces. It is not a "snap" quick turner though, as the wide wheels prevent that type of maneuvering.

The Base version is available as a single or dual motor option. 500W or a combined 1000W. The range will be respectively 15/20 miles (24/32km) and top speed 20/25 mph (32/40kph).

A single rear disc brake, front and rear LED lights, and a voltage display. In comparison to the updated PRO version, this is a much more basic package that still offers the same sensation when riding.

PROS

  • Solid Tires - No punctures!
  • Amazing acceleration
  • High top speed

CONS

  • Front LED lights are not too bright, extra headlight recommended if driving in the dark

"My life changer. Get ready for the torque.
First of all I want to give a shout out to fluidfreeride support team ADAM and MARY. Fast email response if any questions. I had a issue they had the answer in minutes. Get Ready,Set Widewheel. I love my widewheel. Everyone that walks past has to look and if they can ask you a question is the same first one How fast it goes? And the always mention about the wheels. Just get one then talk."

Best lightweight electric scooters for adults

If you're in search of a smaller, and very portable scooter you'll want a lightweight electric scooter. Dimensions, and especially the folded dimensions are important as well but the weight will most likely be the number one factor when looking at portability. We would recommend looking for an adult electric scooter that weighs less than 33 lbs (15 kgs).

Cityrider

A lightweight city commuter scooter

Discover the lightweight Cityrider
Motor: 300W brushless hub motorTires: 8.5" x 2" honeycomb solid tires
Dimensions:  43.3x18.1x47.8 inches
Battery: Lithium-ion 36V 7.5AhSuspension: inner suspension tires  Folded Dim: 43.3x18.1x19.7 inches
Range: 7-10 milesBrakes: Rear drum & rear step on brakeWeight:  28 lbs
Top Speed: 18 mphLights:  front and rear LEDDrive:  front wheel drive
Weight Limit:  220 lbs / 100 kgDisplay: Speedometer + App control Battery Position: Under Board

When looking for the overall best electric scooter for your inner city commute, and taking into account if it's foldable, offers a smooth ride, can hit a top speed of 18 mph (29 kph), has a mile range of minimum 10 miles (16 km) on a single charge, and only weighs 28.5 lbs (12.9 kg), the CITYRIDER is your choice.

Portability is the name of the game here with a very clever folding of the front stem backwards, where it connects and snaps on to the rear mudguard and voila, you can carry it like a bag.

Solid honeycomb tires mean you will never run a flat. A bright display shows speed and allows for two options of riding mode, sport or comfort, and it has cruise control.

Bright front and rear led taillights, as well as turn signals, make it a very safe choice in traffic as well as at night time. It's got a lithium battery of 36V and a 300 Watt motor. Brakes on the rear wheel by way of a drum brake and stepping on the rear bumper are sufficient enough for stopping power. Available on the scooter market at 399 USD it might be the commuter scooter you are looking for.

PROS

  • Turn signals
  • Clever Display

CONS

  • Handle bars does not fold

"Excellent commuter scooter!
The build quality and value for price is amazing. The fit and finish is too notch. I love the inclusion of built in turn signals. It is more stable than an ES4, and super easy for first time riders to get comfortable. The speed controller is well tuner so you never feel the acceleration pull or have wheel spin. The lack of protection underneath the scooter is almost enough to remove a star, but this was never meant to drop off curbs, but to get you from A to B smoothly."

INOKIM Light 2

A lightweight, high quality & stylish electric scooter

Discover the high quality lightweight INOKIM Light 2
Motor: 350W base / 650W peak
Tires: 8.5" x 2" air tires
Dimensions:   42.5 x 41.3 x 18.1 inches

Top Speed: 21 mphLights:  front and rear LEDDrive: wheel drive rear
Weight Limit:  220 lbs / 100 kgDisplay: Adv. thumb throttle displayBattery Position: Under Board

A brilliant option, if the Inokim Quick 4 felt out of price range, is the Inokim Light 2.

Another great commuter from Inokim that puts performance and portability first. A 350W rear hubmotor reaches a top speed of 21 mph (34kph) and a range of 15 to 20 miles (24 to 32 km).

At 30 lbs (13 kg) it is very lightweight but still has a max weight capacity of 220 lbs (100 kg). This is a suspensionless e-scooter but it does run on pneumatic tires. Dual drum brakes and built from high quality materials it can be a workhorse day in and day out. Very portable, easy to carry, stow away, or put into the trunk of your car.

This is a very compact e-scooter. If you are very tall you might feel it is too compact. 6 feet (182 cm) is probably the tallest you should be to feel comfortable riding the Inokim Light 2.

PROS

  • Comfortable and Secure Ride
  • Beautiful Design & Color Options
  • Long range

CONS

  • Limited torque

"Great Lightweight Scooter
This scooter is excellent and compared to the other scooters we've had in its weight limit, it goes faster (21 instead of 15), screen is easily readable in sunlight, and the battery lasts a lot longer. Great scooter, plus even the handlebars fold up if you need it to fit in tighter spaces."

As some e-scooters only ever get faster, stronger, harder.. others go the other way and make the term mobility scooter mean exactly that. Mobility. In more ways than one.

The Inokim Mini 2 looks like something you could pull out of your inner pocket, assemble in a jiffy, and shoot down the road while people look on in amazement. It weighs a mere 23 lbs (10 kg) and folded dimensions are 11.8 x 14.2 x 15 inches (30 x 36 x 38 cm). It will still have a top speed of 15 mph (24 kph) and a range of 10 miles (16km).

Keeping it this light obviously means that all things that add weight have been excluded in the design. One rear damper, front electric and rear step on brake, no display, and a single 250W motor.

Some commuters are desperately looking for a perfect last mile solution and only that. They won't care about long range, impressive max speed numbers, or torque stats. They just need maximum mobility and something easy to handle. Inokim Mini 2 will be for them.

PROS

  • Super Portable - Low Weight & Trolly Wheels
  • USB Port for phone charging

CONS

  • Flat tires can be tricky to deal with

"Unexpectedly Impressive
So, I ordered this scooter to ride alongside my daughter (4 yrs old) who is an absolute professional as far as I am concerned, thinking it will be just enough to keep up. The day it arrived we went out for a ride and OHHHH Boyyy!!!! Plenty of power, it felt super speedy and composed. So my 4 year old that’s already a professional speedster was equally impressed. Here’s the point... this is a quality product, very well made and designed to get to point B quickly. I’m 6ft tall, about 190 and there was lag in power. Not at all disappointed. If you are on the fence, BUY IT :). Thanks Fluidfreeride, you have made our outings way more pleasurable."

Best long range electric scooters for adults

If you're looking for an electric scooter than can cover long range you'll want to look for scooters with larger batteries and that offer eco mode settings. Just a larger battery will of course improve range but there are several aspects that impact the range you get out of your scooter. Riding style, road conditions and if you're using the full power mode or eco mode will all impact how fast you drain the battery.

A pro tip if you want to conserve battery power and get extra range is to use the kick and go option. Kick and go means you have to manually kick off and once your rolling you can begin to use the scooter and accelerate. A lot of scooter come with the option to turn off kick and go, which if you're riding for fun is a sought after feature but starting from 0 does take a lot of power and drains the battery faster, which of course will reduce the over all range you get on a single charge.

Mantis 8 is a newcomer with a lot of promise. Two versions are available. One with a single 800W motor and a top speed of 28+ mph (45+ kph) and 30 miles (48 km) of range. It weighs 50 lbs (22.6 kg), has the same brilliant dual suspension system as the Mantis 10, albeit 8 inch tubeless tires instead of 10, to make it a smaller version.

Advanced display and throttle combination allows for configuration of speed limit, cruise control, regen braking system. Dual disc brakes also on offer.

The Dual motor PRO version has all of the above, plus a higher top speed at 33 mph (53 kph), longer range with 40 miles (64 km), and brutal acceleration. It also has the fabulous Minimotors display for settings of torque configuration, cruise control, and ABS. Dual hydraulic disc brakes deliver an even stronger braking performance.

Weight is slightly up and the scale now hits 60 lbs (27 kg).

The ride is supple and smooth on multiple types of terrain as the firm front and rear swing arm spring suspension, that both versions are fitted with, is excellent. This is not only a very good long range high performance commuter, but can also be used for fun weekend trail adventures.

PROS

  • Very long range
  • Lots of power & torque
  • Fast charger available
  • Turn Signals

  • Stiffer suspension than the Mantis base model

One of the highest quality e-scooters on the market and with a unique design. All parts are custom made and specifically designed for this scooter. No searching through the parts bin from other e-scooters here.

For example, a single-sided swingarm allows for changing tires without having to remove the wheel. A very innovative, quiet, comfortable as well as an adjustable suspension system.

It also has a good range and top speed. There are two versions available where the difference is the size of the battery and therefore mile range is slightly longer on the Super version as the bigger batteried one is called. The top speed for both is 28 mph (45 kph) and the range for the Hero version is 22 miles (35 km). The aforementioned Super reaches 33 miles ( 53 km).

They both have a rear 800W brushless hub motor with a 1300W peak power output. Much thought has gone into designing a thumb throttle that is not fatiguing to use over long distances. 10 inch air filled tires are a good choice for a workhorse like this that will probably ride longer distances and demand comfort from its rider.

Acceleration is modest at first, but once it gets going it comes alive rapidly. Some prefer this smoother acceleration. Less of a jerking reaction getting off the line.

Front drum and rear disc brake as well as LED lights. For riding at night, an extra front LED light is recommended for better visibility. Inokim takes pride in their work and it shows and feels when you ride this scooter. One of the best long range electric scooters for adults.

PROS

  • Adjustable suspension
  • Very comfortable ride
  • Reliable

CONS

  • Kick and go is always enabled

"Amazing Scooter amazing Customer Support.
The OX is by far the best scooter I’ve ever ridden. It’s like riding a mini tank- you don’t feel any bumps or bounce to much like I did with the wide wheel. It is truly an amazing experience which you can only understand once you ride it. The customer support is hands down A++"

Best all terrain & Off-road electric scooters for adults

Off road scooters are favored by adrenaline junkies but you’ve probably found yourself trying out faster and faster scooters as well.

This never stops until you’ve met the Wolf Warrior 11 and its competitors. The handling of a pure off road scooter should be responsive enough to perform tricks. The frame needs to be thick and durable. A good amount of balance will keep riders stable as they reach high speeds on rough terrains. Overall, the scooter should be heavy duty with fast acceleration.

Off road electric scooters are now competing with dirt and quad bikes which puts them in a league of their own. These scooters are bigger, heavier, and faster than what you’ll frequently see on the roads. If you want to find out all there is to know, check out our in depth article on off road electric scooters

The Kaboo Mantis Pro is a step up from the Mantis Base version. It offers a longer range, fully hydraulic disc brakes, the Minimotors EYE display/throttle, a larger battery, and more powerful controllers.

In eco/ single motor mode it will be capable of 45+miles of range ( 72+km), and in real world riding, without caring so much about preserving battery, it will still do 33+miles (53+km). 40 mph (64 kph) top speed is the same for both and all other specs are the same.

The Mantis is definitely one of the best e-scooters on the market whatever criteria one puts up. Not specifically an off road purpose built e-scooter, but it will handle itself well on gravel roads, some trails, and bumpy surfaces. Front and rear swing arm suspension in unison with 10 x 2.5 inch air-filled tires deliver a very smooth ride.

Dual 100W motors with mad acceleration stand out as an experience one does not soon forget. It is a big e-scooter and it weighs 65 lbs (29.4 kg) but still feels nimble and easy to control. A definite favorite.

PROS

  • Great for trails & suburban roads
  • Multiple gear settings
  • Great suspension

CONS

  • Handle bars does not fold

"Excellent scooter, excellent company
I have had my Mantis Pro now for many months. I wanted to get many hours and miles (over 500 miles!) on it before providing my review. That's what really matters to me is not day 1 or even 7, satisfaction. First off, nothing at all has diminished with this scooter. The battery life, acceleration, top speed, build quality, and ride quality all remain exactly the same as the first day I rode. The suspension remains just as good too. This is important to note as I am a 230lbs rider. I love jumping off curbs too. I have 4 kids and they too have some scooters from Fluid Free Ride (and others I will not name). We love riding together as a family and have spent some really high quality time together. Also, to note my satisfaction with Fluid Free Ride... My first Mantis was faulty, after about 20 miles. So much so, it was certainly not field serviceable. It was super quick and super easy to convince Fluid Free Ride of this. They quickly got me a return shipping label via email. They also let me know that if I provided a photo of the FedEx drop off or pick up receipt, they would immediately ship me my replacement. They even allowed me to purchase the upgraded Pro version in this warrant exchange. Can't say enough about the scooter and the company. Thanks and happy riding folks!"

The Inikom OXO is the bigger brother of the OX. It has the same phenomenal ride quality and awesome design but with more power and range as well as fully hydraulic disc brakes front and back.

Dual 1000W motors bring the top speed up to 40 mph (64 kph) and the bigger 60V 26Ah LG Li-ion battery is good for a realistic 36 mile (58 km) range.

At 74 lbs (33.5 kg) it is 13 lbs (5.8 kg) heavier than the OX but that is an offset that one is willing to live with easily. The adjustable front and rear suspension and 10 x 2.5 inch air filled tires also mean that off roading and other surfaces like gravel, trails, and bumps are taken care of easily.

Long distance, suited for other than tarmac and smooth surfaces, and the Inokim high quality design and build philosophy, puts this one at the top three of any shortlist. Or so it should.

PROS

  • Adjustable suspension
  • Superior build & ride quality

  • Heavy & not very portable

This is not the smallest or lightest of scooters. It was never meant to be. This is because the motors, batteries, and frame in this scooter, are big and strong enough to allow it to perform as it does. This is not a commuting scooter, although it is silky smooth on the roads.

Dual 1200W motors with a peak power output of 5400W are part of this beasts package. This is good for a whopping 50 mph (80 kph) top speed. Dear lord. Did I hear someone ask about range? Who cares? This monster is not about traveling far from point A to B. But if you have to, and you can control yourself, ride economically in single motor mode, then it will take you 70 miles (112 km).

A giant front hydraulic fork and suspension with a rear spring arm will allow jumping and landing hard. Big 11 inch tubeless knobby tires for maximum grip. Front and rear hydraulic brakes, eABS (electronic anti lock brake system), a big rubber covered deck for great grip and place to land on, sorry, stand on.

It is a big one and weighs in at 101 lbs (45 kg). It has to be in order to be strong enough. And it is. It looks massive and gives the impression that it knows its business. Because it does.

PROS

  • Very Long Range & Great Speed
  • Peak power performance
  • Off road & street tires available

CONS

  • Not one you carry around

"I have owned 3 dirt bikes, 4 HD , 2 sport bikes , and a supermoto nothing electric. I’m hooked! John answered my preorder questions and Peter kept me updated after I ordered. Painless delivery via fedex. Easy setup , it’s mostly assembly and a nice little multi tool (included) can finish the job in a few minutes. I started slow eco single motor , but the first time you pull the trigger on turbo with both motors hold on ! Something about the Gs and only a slight whine from the motors , it will pull the corners of mouth to your ears."

Entry level electric scooters for adults

If you're keen on trying out the electric scooter lifestyle but unsure if its something you'll do long term and don't want to go all out on your first scooter and get started with a cheaper, more simple model here are some options you might want to take a look at.

Xiaomi M365

Discover the the best electric scooters for your urban commute
Motor:  250w brushless motorTires: 8.5"x 2" Inflatable Tires
Dimensions: 42.5 x 16.9 x 44.8 inches
Battery: Lithium Ion 36 V, 7.8 AhSuspension:  NoneFolded Dim: 42 x 17 x 19 inches
Range: realistic 14 MilesBrakes: Disc Brake & RegenerativeWeight: 27 lbs
Top Speed: 15 MphLights: Front and rear tail lightsDrive: Front wheel
Weight Limit: 220 lbsDisplay: Led Light StatusBattery Position: Under Board

The electric scooter that needs no introduction. There is no denying its popularity, which can be down to price, design, and being the option many choose when trying to find the best electric scooter for adults.

Looking at the specs, it fits well into the lightweight electric scooter category with its 26 lbs (12 kg). It is portable and compact enough to carry up some stairs although handlebars don't fold which can be a bit annoying.

It has a real world range of 14 miles (23.5 km). The max speed is 15mph (24 kph), which explains why Xiaomi Mi users have tried to increase its speed. However, this comes with a setback of quite some importance. The battery capacity will decrease by 50% and is not a modification the company advocates. Specifics are difficult to determine when it comes to unofficial modifications, but what we can say, is that the claimed range will suffer if you start changing the motor output to increase the speed.

Ride quality is reasonably good considering it lacks a suspension system, but it does have pneumatic tires. A rear disc brake and a front regen brake works just fine.

A 250W motor with a peak power of 500W won't set the world on fire or conquer steep hills. But again, this is a last mile solution problem solver first and foremost and needs to accommodate those users and it does that very well. Overall good build quality and design make this a very good scooter at its asking price.

PROS

  • Good range
  • Clever display

CONS

  • No suspension
  • Flat tires are common and difficult to fix

Segway Ninebot

Discover the best folding electric scooters for adults
Motor: 300W brushless hub motorTires: 10"x 2" honeycomb solid tires
Dimensions: 40.1 x 16.9 x 44.5 inches

Range: 16 MilesBrakes: ront Brake & rear step on brakeWeight: 27.5 lbs
Top Speed: 16 MphLights: Front and rear LEDDrive: Front wheel drive
Weight Limit: 220 lbsDisplay: SpeedometerBattery Position: Under Board

Segway are famous for their innovative self balancing machines. So how has this cutting edge engineering translated into designing an adult electric scooter and how does it fit into the urban scooter commuting category?

Not so good in all honesty. Here we have a very light 28 lbs (13 kg) e-scooter that is underpowered, and with a very short range. It is well built and the design is good enough, but the competition has got it beat.

300W motor is good enough for a top speed of 16 mph (26 kph) and a range of 16 miles (26 km). But it will more likely be 10 miles (16 km) in real world riding.

It is a very popular e-scooter and one can only assume that the brand name plays a part. Sluggish acceleration, not good for any type of hills, a regen, and a step on rear brake, none of which are particularly good. If you need to stop quickly, it can get pretty hairy, with one foot needing to transition to the back fast enough to be able to stop in time. It has a suspension, sort of, (but you would be hard pressed to feel it working), and the airless solid tires make the ride memorable, for all the wrong reasons.

The battery is placed in the stem which makes it more difficult to handle once folded and also top heavy when riding.

It's not even the cheapest or best priced option out there. It just proves the point of marketing and the power a brand can possess.

PROS

  • Light weight
  • Compact & solid build

CONS

  • No suspension + solid tires makes the ride very stiff, shakey and bumpy
  • Long braking distances

Gotrax GXL

Discover everything you need to know about cheap electric scooters for adults
Motor:  250wTires: 8.5"x 2" Pneumatic
Dimensions: 43.8 x 17 x 42 inches

Top Speed: 15 MphLights: Front taillightDrive: Front wheel drive
Weight Limit: 275 lbsDisplay: Led Light StatusBattery Position: Under Board

How much e-scooter can you get for 250 USD? Quite a lot actually. Gotrax GXL/Gotrax GXLV2 (version2) is possibly the best cheapest e-scooter on the market. It has a very good balance of performance, weight, range, and specs.

A 250W continuous motor will deliver a top speed of 15 mph (24 kph) and a range of 12 miles (19 km). A rear disc brake and front wheel regen brake where the disc brake is brilliant.... and the front regen brake not so much. But it matters not. The rear disc brake is so good and stopping power is phenomenal. To incorporate such a good braking system on such a low priced scooter deserves praise. Possible Segway Ninebot buyers, you should probably reconsider.

Pneumatic tires also a part of the package. At 8.5 inch they are able to roll over minor obstacles without causing massive drama. The battery is in the stem as with the Segway Ninebot, although for some reason it doesn't affect the riding in the same way. Very easy to fold although handlebars don't fold, but, they are of a shorter variety so as not to be in the way as much when carrying or stowing it away. A very good overall build quality as well as all its features make this the main competitor to the Xiaomi M365.

Opting for the Xiaomi will mean you get greater range, similar top speed, but with an option to firmware flash upgrade the Xiaomi and get more acceleration and max speed. And a Bluetooth enabled smartphone display. But, it is almost double the price of the more minimalistic Gotrax. Is it worth it?

PROS

  • Very cheap

CONS

  • Lacks overall build quality

Glion Dolly

Discover the best electric scooters for heavy adults
Motor:  250w brushless motorTires: 8"x 2" honeycomb solid tires
Dimensions: 38 x 45 x 16 inches
Battery: Lithium Ion 36 V, 7.8 AhSuspension:  Front Fork SuspensionFolded Dim:  37 x 12 x 8 inches
Range:  15 milesBrakes: Anti lock brake & rear foot brakeWeight: 28 lbs
Top Speed: 15 MphLights: Front and rear tail lightsDrive: Rear wheel drive
Weight Limit: 255 lbsDisplay: Led Light StatusBattery Position: Under Board

The Glion Dolly is a viable "middle of the road" option if you're looking for a foldable electric scooter commuter that is reasonably priced and offers decent performance for your daily commute.

The lithium-ion battery will give you a top speed of 15 mph (24 kph) and a range of 15 miles (24 km) so nothing to write home about. But a reasonably smooth ride is still available even if not the most powerful motor pushes it forward.

The folding design is very clever and allows for folding of the handlebars inwards as well, making it less like to snag something unwanted. The board has that skateboard style grippy material so feels safe when standing on it.

Good features here are its led headlight and taillight. An absolute must whenever traveling after sundown. Compact rubber tires are the choice of the manufacturer here and even though they work pretty decently, air filled tires will always provide a ride difficult to compete with.

There is a shock absorber on the front wheel but honestly, it doesn't feel like it makes a difference. You do notice all the bumps when riding. It has two braking systems where the one on the left handlebar is a twist grip, which by way of a magnet, alters the voltage and slows the scooter down. This has surprised first time users as the effect is quite violent, and risks sending the rider over the handlebars if one is not careful. The rear brake is the same as on kick bikes, you step on the rear bumper to slow the wheel down, a bit old school but it works.

For shorter commutes and for it being so easily and quickly foldable as well as the price range of 500 USD, it is an option to consider.

PROS

  • Clever folding design
  • Good led head & tail lights

CONS

  • Limited power

Swagtron Swagger

Discover the best adult electric scooters for commuting
Motor: 250w brushless motorTires: 8.5"x 2" Inflatable Tires

Battery:  Lithium Ion 36 V, 7.8 AhSuspension: NoneFolded Dim: 42 x 17 x 19 inches

Top Speed: 15 MphLights: Front and rear tail lightsDrive: Front wheel drive
Weight Limit: 220 lbsDisplay: Led Light StatusBattery Position: Under Board

The Swagtron Swagger 5 is back with a second attempt at producing a viable electric scooter after their first failed miserably. And they have done a much better job at producing an e-scooter that delivers better this time.

It looks the part and is equipped with ABS E-brake on the front wheel, disc brake on the rear wheel, LED display, brake taillight, and a phone mount for your smartphone amongst other things.

It has three speed settings to choose from and reaches a top speed of 18 mph (29 kph). It promises a range of 11 miles (17,7 km) on a single charge. However, when tested with an average heavy rider in real world circumstances, it only managed 9 miles (14 km) when top speed was used. And that is not good enough compared to other brands.

Battery charge is 3,5 hours and we consider that acceptable. It is foldable and only weighs 26 lbs (11,8 kg). But as a commuter to and from work, the low range will be a challenge. If you can't charge it at work it is probably best to opt for another e-scooter.

PROS

  • ABS E-brake is a plus
  • Clever phone mount

CONS

  • Limited range
  • Limited power

Turboant X7

Discover the fastest electric scooters for adults

Top Speed: 18 MphLights: LED front headlightDrive: Front wheel drive
Weight Limit: 275 lbsDisplay: LED displayBattery Position:  Under Board

The Turboant is another popular entry level scooter. It's slightly more powerful than most of the other entry level scooters we included, with a 350w motor it knocks out a top speed of 18 mph (30 kph) and you will get ar found 9-15 miles (15-25km) range depending on riding style and road conditions.

This scooter features a function that is quite popular on e bikes, a detachable battery. On electric bikes its generally a safety features, not as useful on a scooter as they batteries are built into the scooter rather than attached on the outside. A plus is you can always have a spare battery ready if you needed to use all the range and can't wait the hours it takes for the battery recharge.

It's lightweight, only weighing 29.7 lbs (13.5 kg) so easy to carry around, making it a good choice for a portable and nimble scooter.

PROS

  • Removable battery
  • Good speed

CONS

  • Limited range

Razor E300

Top Speed: 15 MphLights: NoneDrive: Rear wheel drive
Weight Limit: 220 lbsDisplay: NoneBattery Position:  Under Board

The Razor e300 is another e-scooter on the market that is a bit different looking. A bit chunkier body and board, as well as chunkier 10 inch pneumatic tires, makes it look like something for the kids or teenage riders, and that is probably the target market.

This is another one that is not foldable but allows for dismantling of the handlebars. As a commuter, it is probably not a good choice.

It does provide a comfortable ride and manages a top speed of 15 mph (24 kph) and a range of 9-10 miles (14-16 km). It weighs 42 lbs (19 kg) so portability is a bit challenging. It could probably handle some offroad antics due to its wide air filled tires and chunky frame, but I would not venture to hard out on those trails.

Lead acid battery keeps the price down, but they have a shorter life span and only offer 40 minutes of continuous riding. 250W chain driven motor is another feature that is different from most e-scooters.

All in all, a cheap e-scooter that can be an entry model for the kids to try out.

PROS

  • Solid build & durable
  • Chunky tires, good for dirt & grass terrain

CONS

  • More suited to teenagers & kids
  • Does not fold

Razor Ecosmart Metro

Discover the best electric scooters with seats for adults

The Razor EcoSmart Metro stands out from other electric scooters in a number of ways. It looks more like a mini bike as it has 16 inch air filled tires, exactly the same a smaller bike has, to provide a definite comfortable ride, as well as a feeling of control that bigger wheels give you.

It has a saddle so you ride sitting on it, and again, making it rather resemble a bike than the electric kick scooters we are used to by now.

It is white and its bike like frame carries a bamboo deck for your feet to rest on. It has a respectable top speed of 18 mph (29 kph) and a range of 10 miles (16 km). That could well be an excellent range and speed for your daily commute if you choose this as your commuter scooter.

That depends on a couple of things though. This one is not foldable. If you can park it in the same way you would a bicycle wherever you work, then it is an option to consider.

It comes with a retractable kickstand which is useful in this case. It feels like it is right on the weight limit on the scooter market though as it hits the scale at 67 lbs (30 kg). But this sturdiness also allows a weight limit of 220 lbs (98kg) and also indicates a high quality build. Handbrake connected to the rear wheel and a cutting of the motor provides sufficient stopping power.

Twist grip throttle is perfect for controlling its 500W chain driven motor. If you also look for more swagger in your commuter, then maybe this one is for you.

Adult Electric Scooters, What to Look For?

There are several aspects to look out for when finding the best electric scooters for adults.

If they are built by a trusted manufacturer, then this is obviously a good sign. Going for a well known brand is a smart idea. Cheap off-brand scooters might seem too good a deal to pass up, however, their components will most likely require more regular repair, maintenance, and new parts. Warranty might be an issue. The great thing about buying from a specialized retailer is that they stock parts and can repair your scooter as well as offer a full service.

As you can gain fast speeds quickly, it is essential to ensure you can stop.

There are some models with front or rear brakes only. Others with foot brakes, disc brakes, and/or a combination of front and rear brakes, electric, and regenerative brakes! By ensuring you have the correct braking system, it will ensure you don't end up on the floor having gone over the handlebars.

It can be dangerous when you don’t marry the scooter to the purpose and task at hand. To be safe, we recommend mechanical brakes over purely electric brakes (or a combination thereof). The high-performance models have both front and rear disc brakes. We are not saying electric scooters are not safe at all, only that like any form of transport where you can gain speed, safety is key.

When it comes to frame and fork construction, it is better to go for thick steel tubes and plating. This will be heavier than thinner designs but tougher in the long run and it will be more resilient. Lighter alloys are more likely to bend or break under regular use.

Adult Electric Scooters vs Kids scooters

There are so many adult versions of these electric scooters that people might not even realize they were first designed to be used by kids. Scooters for younger riders are recognizable due to their smaller size. However, there is a middle ground where specific models are suitable for adults and older children. This can make it tricky to know which ones are ideal for each age bracket.

Please note that there are weight restrictions for electric scooters, and this is to be able to get the most out of the motor. Therefore, a child scooter is likely to have a smaller motor and also a lower weight restriction.

When looking at buying an adult electric scooter for an older child, bear in mind the actual weight of the scooter. A bigger motor can often mean a heavier scooter that an adult may manage with ease, but a child may not. This design is due to the purpose of the scooter. Adults are more likely to use their scooter for commuting, compared to children just doing short distances for fun. Therefore the range of a child's scooter is significantly less than that of an adult scooter.

E-scooters can have either two or three wheels. The latter gives extra stability and is safer for kids. Adjustable handlebars are a feature on commuter or lightweight scooters. They need to be set between the rider's stomach and chest to allow for appropriate visibility. However, for off road scooters and faster models, fixed handlebars are preferred to provide more stability.

Generally, kids scooters have a much weaker performance compared to adult scooters. They may also require inefficiently long charging times. However, one of the main reasons why children like them are their looks. The aesthetic style of these scooters is often their most significant selling factor. This is because kids are sometimes more concerned with how they look when riding, rather than how well their scooter performs. Who would've thought that kids were vain that way?

Electric Scooter Accessories and Upgrades for Adults

https://fluidfreeride.com/collections/accessories/products/head-light-for-widewheel?variant=19515127660613The best electric scooters for adults have a lot of upgrades available. Kits can be bought online which contains a variety of upgrade options. They are usually compatible with both scooters and bikes as the two share similar components. Motor and battery conversions are popular since they increase performance and power. Waterproofing is also useful as it keeps the frame, chain, and electric parts from rusting or failing.

Owners sometimes like to upgrade their tires for different sized ones. However, this change can severely impact the overall rideability of the scooter. Getting advice from an experienced mechanic will help to prevent any issues that may arise from upgrades.

There are also several accessories that have become popular recently. For example, people who use scooters while shopping, can attach a specialized clip to their handlebars. It keeps shopping bags securely in place.

It is recommended that commuters with foldable scooters get a bag to store it in. The best scooter bags will be easy to carry and able to protect them against the elements.

An ideal tool for deterring thieves or even someone mistaking your personal electric scooter for a rental one is a folding lock. These locks can be attached to various points on the frame to ensure peace of mind when locking your scooter anywhere. It sits tightly on your frame and there is no risk of rattling during your ride. These locks can resist up to 9 tons of hydraulic pressure whilst only weighing 1.6 lbs / 0.720 kg itself.

We all know how truly unpredictable the weather can be and how quickly it can go from day to night and you're left thinking "when did it get so dark out?" That is why electric scooters usually have good front lights that can be utilized for this very occasion.

However, similar to when you’re driving a car, your headlights don’t always light up the road sufficiently and you need to switch to your full beams. For longer commutes in the dark, we recommend an additional headlight. They attach to your scooter on to the handlebars or verticle steering pole, whichever you prefer. When looking at additional headlights, ensure it is waterproof and will securely attach to your scooter without rattling or fear of detachment. There are lights with varying modes and varying battery time, click here to find out more about additional headlights.

Electric Scooter Rentals for Adults - Buying VS Renting

For some people, the price of an electric scooter can be a turn off. One option is to go for split payments, starting at 30 USD a month as it can even be cheaper than on what one may spend on average when renting a scooter for commuting. We have a full guide on everything you need to know about electric scooter rentals - but keep reading if you're happy with a summary, we've listed the most important factors below.

For example, on a rental scooter doing a 15 minute commute to and from work, five days a week, it will set you back $53.50 per week. Taking into account an average of 5 weeks' holiday a year, you’re looking at an annual cost of $2,514.50, just commuting to work. In contrast, it will only cost a few hundred to buy a decent commuting scooter outright. Even the higher quality ones cost around $2,000. With finance payment options this can be even more affordable for working people than renting.

 - 15 min commute = $53.50 per week = $2514.50 (47 weeks of the year)
You may think this is not a bad price to pay. However, two major rental companies have doubled their price per minute this year alone. The more popular electric scooters become, the more inclined these companies are to increase the price per minute further.

There are other factors that can affect your journey when planning your commute to work via a rental scooter. Firstly, you may not be able to find one as there is no specified collection/drop off points. So you may have to walk for a while before finding one.

Secondly, once you have found one, it may have little or no charge left. Rental companies rely on people collecting dead scooters and charging them overnight. Not something that is guaranteed to happen.

Thirdly, the cost. As stated above, regularly commuting on a rental scooter can be an expensive business. However, it is important to say that we are not discouraging you from renting a scooter. They are perfect for short, impromptu occasional uses. We are talking in terms of daily commuting and regular use.

If you’re planning your commute to work on an adult electric scooter, financially and for the sake of reliability, we recommend purchasing a quality electric scooter of your own.

There are plenty of rental scooter establishments across the United States and beyond. Of course, the location will be a factor, not every city or town have rental scooters available. If the closest rental company is too far away, then this method will be irrelevant to you.

The rental scooter companies generally have zones where their electric scooters can operate which are often located in city centers. If you live just outside the city in a Suburban area you might struggle to find one, and if you do take it outside a designated zone, they might charge you extra fees. Or the motor may cut out and become disabled.

If you are considering renting a scooter, it is worth noting the zone you can drive in to avoid the fees and hassle of a disabled scooter. However, it is ideal for those who do not plan to ride more than once every few months. Despite this, nothing beats a high quality purchased scooter.

There is no point in buying one outright if it is just going to be ridden a few times and then left to rust in a shed. Renting is also a good idea for people who have never tried scootering before to see if they find it to be an enjoyable experience. Then they can consider buying one of their own.

For regular riders and commuters, this method is not financially viable longterm. In addition, having one of their own will allow users to customize and upgrade as they like. This is important as customization is a crucial aspect of scooter ownership. Being able to tweak and refine both the performance and look of the ride, means that owners get to have their own personalized method of transportation.

The best adult electric scooters are the ones that have been upgraded with a personal touch.

Adult Electric Scooters vs E-Bikes

There are undoubtedly several vital things to consider when deciding to go for either an e-bike or an electric scooter. An e-bike has the same basic functions as a regular bike, only with added assistance when pedaling, especially to help getting up an incline. Aside from this, it is very similar to an ordinary bike.

The cost will be a significant factor. Electric scooters are significantly cheaper than bikes. While electric scooters for adults range significantly from 600 to 3100 USD, for a good electric scooter, it is likely to cost from 1500 USD.

Electric bikes can be much pricier. Also, electric scooters tend to give better value although the overall running costs for both are about the same.

When comparing an electric scooter to an electric bike, it is important to note that they are equally environmentally friendly. However, in terms of safety, electric scooters have better built in lights including brake lights, which are add ons for bikes and rely on the rider to prioritize installing lights on the electric bike.

The motors for both are relatively quiet and do not contribute to noise pollution and there is no significant difference in charging times. However, if, when riding the electric bike the battery dies, it is easier to continue to the destination than if the battery dies on the electric scooter.

Depending on how you use your personal electric scooter they can be less vulnerable to theft. Primarily as they are easy to bring with you and store in a secure place rather than left outside with the bikes.

Electric Scooter Laws for Adults

An electric scooter is a convenient and fun way to get around. But is it legal? And where can you ride it? Well, the laws on electric scooters vary from one country to another, state to state, and even city to city.

E-scooter riders must follow their local and national laws. In several areas, e-scooters are even classified as road motors. That means they need to be licensed and insured.

The police can sometimes confuse electric scooters for mopeds or even motorbikes, depending on their shape and size. Owners should be aware of this when taking their electric scooters out on the road. Riders who disregard road and curb laws are a hazard for both pedestrians and cars and following signs and signals is essential.

Before purchasing an electric scooter, readers should know where they can and can't ride. Doing a bit of research on the local area will reduce any potential trouble later.

The United States
When it comes to the US, electric scooters are generally governed by the same federal law that regulates electric bikes. As long as electric bikes do not exceed the speed limit (20 mph/32kph) and a max motor of 750W they are not considered motor powered. However, electric scooter laws may vary from one state or city to another, and with the industry rapidly evolving, we will definitely see changes in the near future concerning electric scooters.

Make sure to stay up to date on any new laws and changes.

Adults on Electric Scooters - How Fast Can You Go?

One of the most overlooked, yet significant factors affecting the speed of an electric scooter is the amount of power provided by the battery pack. The weight of the scooter/rider, tire type, and motor wattage will also play a part. Despite this, the best electric scooters for adults will still reach a maximum speed of around 50 mph. This is the limit. In reality, most adult electric scooters will reach a top speed of 15-25 mph (24-40 kph).

The fastest ones will often look similar to classic gas powered scooters. They may feature a seat, as well as a deck that riders can put both feet on.

The main reason why manufacturers do not increase the speed for electric scooters is that they are only designed for trips of around 25-30 miles (40-48 km). Unless extra battery packs are carried around, the range an e-scooter can travel is limited.

The heavier the scooter is the higher its battery range will be. They are not suitable for highways. The lack of high speed is more than made up for by comparatively lower driving costs, maintenance expenses, pollution, and noise emissions.

Weight Limits for adult Electric Scooters

https://fluidfreeride.com/products/horizon-practical-allround-electric-scooter-for-commuteWhen looking for some of the best adult electric scooters, most people tend to focus on performance and aesthetics. However, weight limits are also an essential factor to get the most out of the motor. There is only so much weight it can take before its systems begin to struggle. The manufacturer will state the weight limit of their e-scooters clearly.

Riders should take their own weight into account.

If a scooter cannot support them, then it is obviously not worth purchasing. The weight of any baggage carried around on the scooter will also need to be assessed. It is certainly never a good idea to push too close to weight limits, as it will cause the scooter to require more regular maintenance. Usually, the more expensive scooters will have a higher limit.

It is worth investing a little more if this aspect is a big issue. The main downside is that the scooter itself may be more cumbersome.

Example of weight Limits for Fluid freeride Scooters

- WideWheel Pro: 220 lbs / 100 kg
- Horizon: 265 lbs / 120 kg
- Mantis: 265 lbs / 120 kg
- Wolf Warrior 11: 330 lbs / 150 kg
- INOKIM Quick 4: 220 lbs / 100 kg
- INOKIM OX: 265 lbs / 120 kg

Foldable adult electric Scooters

In recent years there has been an increase in the popularity of foldable, portable scooters. In fact, some of the best adult electric scooters have a folding capability. The main advantage of this system is that once folded, the scooter will be much more portable. It can be carried on to trains and buses, making it the perfect choice for commuters.

These electric scooters follow in the footsteps of folding bikes which have seen a recent surge in sales. The problem with many folding bikes is that they can still be cumbersome and heavy. In comparison, a decent folding scooter can weigh less than 22lbs (10kg).

Even accounting for the battery weight, they are still the popular choice. The portability and practicality of a good electric scooter cannot be understated. The best electric scooters for adults of this type can fold and unfold in a matter of seconds and fit into tight spaces, such as under desks or luggage compartments. It should come as no surprise that they are favored by people traveling for work and school.

It is worth noting, as previously mentioned, to weigh up the weight and portability with the performance of the electric scooter. There is a significant trade off between portability/weight and power/performance. A scooter that climbs all types of hills and weighs under 30 lbs (13 kg) simply does not exist.

Therefore the need to ensure you purchase the most appropriate scooter for your needs will allow you to get the most out of it.
