This is article is meant to highlight a recommended replacement item for the following models:

- Phantom V2 With Standard Brakes

- Phantom V2 With Hydraulic Brakes ( Zoom or Nutt)

More specifically within these two models are units fitted with the metal charging port covers by Apollo.

It has been found that these metal charging covers pose a risk of short circuiting when the metal cover is inserted sideways or off-axis accidentally. The metal cover has the ability to bridge the inner electrodes of the charging port together resulting in an electrical arc and potential burns to the hand of the person attempting to install the cover. An example of this fault can be seen here:

Our recommendation is to install the updated part which can be found here. We have requested this part from Apollo and now would like to make it available to our customers. The updated part is constructed of plastic and poses no short circuit risk. This updated part is very simple to install and DOES NOT require removal of the charging port from the scooter as it has the ability to come apart, The old metal cover can be quickly popped of of the leash which holds it to the scooter as demonstrated below:

We recommend a dab of super-glue or other light adhesive to rejoin the halves for the highest security.
