Mantis King GT Maintenance Advisory
Introduction
It has come to our attention that the initial batch of scooters delivered to us and subsequently sold to you may suffer from cracking on a critical component of the frame. The failure rate for this part has been extremely low according to our records, with only 1.6% of units sold having suffered any sort of failure based off of our data. This component known as the “Neck” is the arched portion which connects the front suspension and steering shaft to the rest of the frame. See the reference below:
Explanation
While we believe at this time that these Mantis King GT’s are generally safe to ride, we urge you to regularly inspect this part due to the observed failures. We suggest inspecting this part before every ride due to its critical nature. Please see these reference photos of cracking found on a few cases to understand the signs:
As it currently stands, we do not believe it is necessary to change the part unless it exhibits the signs of cracking shown above. However, we do urge you to inspect the part before every ride going forward to ascertain its condition. We have been working with Kaabo to receive their updated part which eliminates the upper set of screw holes. Kaabo eliminated these screw holes as they had proven to be a stress riser which in turn caused the cracking, along with slightly thickening the neck material for extra assurance. See the reference photos below:
We will be making this part available shortly along with the required materials and tools. This part will come at no cost to any of the effected customers.
