Inokim Electric Scooters - Why are they different?
- Read Time: 13 min
The founder behind the Inokim Electric Scooters brand is an Israeli award-winning inventor and product designer named Nimrod Sapir.
Under the brand MyWay, the company was launched in 2009 making it twelve years of experience (at the time of writing) in producing what he, and many with him, believes is the best solution to a problem that is annoying a lot of traveling people.
Sapir has won numerous design awards as the first electric scooter designer who overcame the trade-off between performance and weight.
Last Mile Solution
Similar to people like Elon Musk or maybe even Enzo Ferrari, Nimrod wants to take things to the next level. In today's world of copycats, where many similar products are being sold by different brands, by way of copying someone else and the use of mass-produced parts to assemble a finished product under their brand, Inokim prides itself on producing and manufacturing all components "in house" for their e-scooters.
This, in unison with a philosophy to create the best "last mile solution" for commuters in the business world, has rendered an e-scooter that is of high quality, super quick to fold, and lightweight to boot. Especially the folding mechanism and how easy and quick it is to operate, has been a focal point as the average user doesn't want to faff about when getting on a subway, train, bus, or having to stow away the e-scooter in an office space.
The attention to detail and design has not gone unnoticed in the e-vehicle world and some suggest the Inokim is the best e-scooter on the market today.
Which INOKIM E-Scooter should you go for?
At the time of writing, Inokim scooters have five base options on their order list. Ox, Oxo, Light, Quick, and the Mini. The Ox comes with different versions of batteries and it is then called Inokim Ox Hero or Inokim Ox Super. Depending on what you need it for, Inokim has covered a wide spectrum of potential different users. From one that offers maximum lightweight portability up to the heavier off-road beast that will satisfy even the most critical weekend warrior.
Inokim Light 2
Ultra Portable & Long Range
The Inokim Light 2 is the latest version in the Light series. This is an ultraportable electric scooter designed to be very easy to use and ride. It has a 350W motor and is a kick start scooter. Even here you can sense the attention to detail as some other kickstart scooters are tricky, jerky, and oftentimes lead to "false" starts. Not so with the Inokim Light 2. It is set to be comfortable and smooth. It starts off slow and then gradually builds up to its top speed of 21 mph (34 km/h).
It is probably the longest range ultra-portable e-scooter on the market today with its claimed range of 24 miles (38 km). In real-world testing, it has managed 16 miles (25km) on an undulating track with a rider weight of 165 lbs (75kg) which is brilliant.
It has double drum brakes, another rare feature that makes this one stand out in the world of lightweight e-scooters and they provide a very good stopping power.
It lacks suspension but has two pneumatic tires that provide a good ride. A very low deck makes for a low center of gravity which makes it easier to ride. And even though it is a lightweight e-scooter, the deck is surprisingly roomy leaving plenty of space for your feet.
It comes with multiple color options that look fabulous, and you would expect to see businessmen arrive at their destination on this one, such is the style, unique design, and build quality of it.
PROS
- Custom Design Throttle
- Comfortable and Secure Ride
- Beautiful Design & Color Options
CONS
- Limited Power

The Inokim OX is a fantastic all-round electric scooter that comes in two versions. The OX Hero and the OX Super.
The difference is in the battery pack where the Hero has a 60V Li-ion 13Ah version, and the Super has a 60V Li-ion 21Ah. And that adds approximately 10 miles (16 km) to bring the total mile range up from 22 miles for the Hero to 33 miles for the Super.
Believe it or not, but this e-scooter has a double single-sided adjustable swingarm suspension, which makes changing a tire much easier as you don't need to remove the wheel. It is a fantastic suspension system, quiet, and durable. 10-inch pneumatic tires to further smoothen the ride of the 800 Watt base 1300 Watt peak power rear hub motor. Thumb style throttle is perfectly calibrated. The acceleration is not jerky but rather on the modest side up to 15 mph (24 km/h) where it comes more alive all the way up to its impressive max speed of 28 mph (45 km/h).
Rear disc brake and front drum brake provide perfect stopping power. Riding this scooter feels a bit like surfing on the streets. "Reliable and steadfast
This is a great electric scooter. It is not trying to be the fastest in the market, but it is the most stead fast and consistent. The speed is quick, but does not feel dangerous. It has enough torque to get up steep hills with ease, even under the load of an adult and child. We get over 22 real miles Per charge."

This is Inokim's big gun, suited for off-road and conventional surfaces with a top speed of 40 mph (65 km/h)! It has that similar patented adjustable swingarm suspension and comes fitted with 10-inch pneumatic tires for better stability in rough terrain.
Dual 1000 Watt brushless motors with 1300W peak provide plenty of "oomph", and the 60V 25.8 Ah LG Lithium-ion battery is good enough for a range of up to 62 miles (98 km).
The braking is provided by a dual hydraulic brake system that will come in handy when you go off-road at higher speeds.
It folds in 5 seconds, has a great wide deck for easy footing, and is built from a high-quality aluminum alloy that has proven its worth already in the car industry. Of course, this bodes for a slightly heavier electric scooter and this one weighs in at 70 lbs (32 kg).
If you want to go off-road a lot, or even look for an electric scooter that is not overly fragile, the list of options at the time of writing is not that big. It is quite a shortlist. The Inokim OXO needs to be on that list, and possibly at the top of it, if you are looking for one of the best riding experiences on offer when it comes to electric scooters today.

Electric Scooters - Built from the ground up
In the e-scooter world, we can see similarities with the car industry, where many different brands use the same parts to keep costs down. However, some do it all by themselves.
The most recent success story might be Koenigsegg. The Swedish hyper sports car manufacturer that does everything themselves.
Here is where Inokim is similar, as they make every component themselves in their factory in China. Every part is sourced with extreme quality control. And rather than focus on monikers such as the "fastest", "most powerful" and so on, Inokim sets its sights on an easy to use, high build quality electric scooter.
They are built to last many years, even if used on a daily basis. Some components such as their lithium-ion batteries are similar to those used by the car company Tesla.
Inokim Scooter Prices
Let's address the elephant in the room. If you have googled Inokim electric scooters, you have noticed that they are not in the budget section as far as price goes. Especially if you are comparing them performance-wise with other e-scooters, watts vs watts, speed vs speed, range vs range, and so on. You might think: "Hey, why are they so expensive?" If you are looking to buy the cheapest e-scooter you can get your hands on, Inokim is not for you. But if you instead are looking for the best e-scooter you can get your hands on, the Inokim will be one of, if not the only option, out there now. The attention to detail and high quality is yet to be surpassed by their competition.
In the long run, they will last better as all components are of higher and thus more expensive quality. You get what you pay for, is the old adage that very much applies to the Inokim brand.
If you, for example, compare an Inokim with one of the most popular e-scooters on the market, the Xiaomi M365, you can see the difference. Although a very popular and price worthy option, the Xiaomi does have some issues as reported by daily users. The folding mechanism is one such problem. It contains a latch located at the front of the column which has been known to break and could lead to a potentially very dangerous situation if it happens whilst riding. The first latches were made of aluminum and have since been upgraded to a ferromagnetic version, supposedly stronger than the aluminum one. But even so, some recommend upgrading to a heavy-duty latch that can be ordered online to be sure. That is just one example of why some scooters cost more than others.
Many Xiaomi owners also report a slightly loose or wobbly stem. Some more than others, and yet again, there are suggestions for different DIY fixes to this issue.
Another very popular lightweight e-scooter is the Ninebot. In this case, there are quite a lot of owners frustrated with the control board which connects all the signals like headlights, brake, throttle, battery, hub motor, taillights. The unit brakes down and as soon as you turn on the headlight, the scooter can't run uphill at all. Eventually, the control board dies and shuts down. And you have to replace the control board, which then renders a lot of new issues and problems as there are two versions available and further problems have been reported with them as well. These are things to almost be expected when you pay 500 USD for an e-scooter. Therein lies the answer to why some scooters are so cheap.
Foldable Inokim Scooters
All Inokim scooters are foldable, with attention to details on their folding mechanisms second to none. Handlebars and stem are also adjustable and foldable for maximum portability. Since one of Inokims's focus is to provide the best possible last-mile solution to customers, the daily wear and tear of folding your scooter have been taken into account. Making sure that latch mechanisms will stay solid and not start to get loose and create play or wobble.
Inokim a brilliant choice for both women and men
You would think that electric scooters are typically generic but in fact, some of them seem to be more designed for men, where performance data such as top speed and acceleration is at the forefront of the promotion material.
Inokims design, on the other hand, seems to be more of a crossover that captures both gender audiences, with an emphasis on safety, clever high-quality design, long-lasting performance as well as providing fun and excitement.
It is now the most popular choice among both men and women who favor exactly those qualities.
Inokim accessories
Inokim also offers a wide range of accessories to further help you customize your e-scooter. Different versions of tires, brakes, seats, bags, safety equipment, and locks to mention a few of the items available. All with the same attention to detail and design we have come to expect from Inokim.
Inokim electric scooter review
The electric scooter is here to stay and will only ever expand its operational area with technology improving. As a last-mile solution problem solver, it is already now unbeatable. And herein lies the challenge as well as the opportunity.
Everybody is looking for the "best deal" or the cheapest possible solution to this problem. And that is usually the wrong approach as it will turn out to be the more expensive solution in the long run.
The daily wear and tear of an electric scooter will quickly become evident when flimsy parts start to rattle and come loose. And the last mile solution now becomes the last mile problem instead.
Inokim might be pricier but there is a reason for that as all components are designed and built with this in mind. Of course, it is impossible to build a bulletproof eternal machine that will never wear & tear or break down but, to have a company like Inokim offering the closest thing possible is nothing short of brilliant. Someone was going to do it anyway.
Inokim electric scooter service, repairs, and warranty
In case of repairs needed or other service parts required, Fluidfreeride offers a 12-month warranty on all Inokim scooters, and have qualified mechanics to help out with any issues should they arise.
